Andrew Beresford from Morley Butchers answers our Food Fest questionnaire...

Q: What makes Crouch End unique?

A: Lively high street with lots of variety. Great people and a friendly village feel to the community

Q: Why did you open up in Crouch End?

A: Many of the reasons that make Crouch End Unique make it good to be trading here. Our position on the parade is a good location

Q: When was that?

A: I arrived here five years ago but there has been a butchers shop at this address for 120 years. We are continuing a long tradition!

Q: Whats a favourite food on your counter.

A: Butchers product changes with the season but right now it has to be the Spring Lamb. Great flavour and versatile whether you are roasting a Sunday Lunch or hitting the BBQ

Q: Tell us one thing we don't know about Morley Butchers.

A: We have a new wood smoker installed, it's the latest in natural draft smoking technology. Its only a few meters away from where the original Smoker chimney  was 120 years ago. This latest addition means we can now smoke our own meats on the premises and offer Crouch Enders a new range of locally produced food.

Q: Do you have a favourite bar/pub in N8?

 A:
It has to be our neighbours The Queens a few doors down a great pint and they stock our Biltong behind the bar

Q: What about a restaurant?

A: Butchers keep antisocial hours so we are not out very much but the Queens gets our vote on the food front too

Q: Favourite Coffee?

A: A Latte from our near neighbors My Kind of Coffee

Q: Do you have a favourite shop here?

A: Has to be Dunns always go there for our sandwiches

Q: Where would you take someone visiting Crouch End from out of town?

A: Just to visit the high street – there is so much on offer, whatever their tastes there is bound to be a Bar, restaurant or shop that would be a good match

Q: What new foodie business would you like to see opening in Crouch End?

A: Nothing in particular, as there is already such a great selection. Whatever it might be if its good quality offering they will do well as this is such a foodie destination

Q: What's the best kept foodie secret in n8?

A: Shameless plug but not enough people know about our Gammon and Biltong. Truly local food made with the best ingredients here in our shop.
